Holidays

I don't think that Juergen and I have ever had a more relaxing holiday.  Hawaii was exactly what we needed.  We explored and relaxed and just enjoyed the beautiful settings.  Here are a few pictures.

We went on a guided nature walk in Volcano National Park.  It was wet and dreary and didn't feel like Hawaii at all:-)

This was our little cottage in the town of Volcano.  Cute little two bedroom nestled into the fern forest.

This was a GARGANTUAN fiddlehead!!

This was the end of the road.....the lava closed this road years ago.

Stay tuned for more photos......

Long time no hear.......

So its been quite some time since I wrote here on the blog.  There are many reasons that I shall try to maintain a more current blog....those reasons are:  Bonnie & Jon, Mom D, Bianka, Heidi & Amali and all the other family that live far away.

Here's us and my family.....just waiting to take one of Juergen's side now at Christmas.

So for recent stories and pictures.....

These are pictures of my favourite back roads in Pennsylvania.
I've been down in Summer & Fall.
I love going back and viewing it....and would love even more if I could share it with all of you.  For now you will have to enjoy the photos.

The busy streets.

I stopped in Bird in Hand to browse at the Farmer's Market.  I enjoyed lunch at a diner within the market where I was served the MOST amazing Cream of Potato soup.  A local woman (Amish or Mennonite, not sure) came up and spoke to her friend who worked there saying she only wanted fries for lunch as she was just too full from the two weddings this week.

One of my favourite things is the rolling hills.

Some day I'll take Juergen and show him the now familiar roads and stops along the way.  Like Lapp Ice Cream where they have the BEST coconut ice cream.

Or how about Martin's Pretzels where if you are early enough you can watch the women roll the pretzels and taste a fresh one.

Another must see is The Weaver Nut Company where you can get any candy imaginable.

Largest chocolate bar I've ever seen.  Keep thinking I should bring one back for Juergen however you'll never believe but its as large as a small carry on...this thing would NOT fit in your carry on.

See, now your mouth is watering and you have to visit Pennsylvania.

The last place I visited was the quilt shop in Intercourse, PA.  I'm hoping to settle in for a quiet winter project of working on a bed runner.  I may have bit off too much but we'll see.  I'm excited to start the project.  So wish me luck and perseverance.

Now I'm back at home and busy packing for a move later this month.  I will post pictures of the new place soon for you to see: before and after we move in.

It will be sad to see this place go but we are looking forward to moving in to more space.

I will NOT miss my galley kitchen!

Summer Holidays

Long overdue photos from our trip out to Manitoba.  We made stops along the way and quite enjoyed the journey.  First stop was Mt. Robson for the hike of our life...neither of us were prepared but we LOVED it.

The before picture......

The first sign that we are getting somewhere...Kinney Lake!

Who needs a break?  Definitely me!

Wide open spaces.

Setting up camp....tight squeeze:-)

Good Morning!

Almost down...

Looks like we made it, barely!

That's all for Robson but I'll try to get the rest in soon...little bit at a time.
